HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF:

The Atlanta Select Basketball Association would like send a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Head Coach Larry Thompson and his Wheeler High School Boys Varsity Basketball Team for two magnificent back-to-back State Championship Seasons in 2020 & 2021. In 2020 the Wildcats defeated the Nationally Ranked #2 7A Grayson High School in a back and fourth fight to the end, where they pulled off a 60-59 victory. Not only to come right back the next 2021 season to be victorious on a 71-61 against Kell High School. Thompson was known for winning won Back-to-Back State Championships as Head Coach with Greenforest Academy during the 2015-2017 seasons, this seems like Back-to-Back State Championships are becoming apart of Coach Thompson's DNA "It's in his blood!"

During his tenure with Atlanta Select he lead his teams to win numerous trophies while playing in AAU, YBOA and other major tournaments. Larry, joined Atlanta Select along with Coach Patrick Stephens in 2013, where they developed a winning culture. The Mighty Atlanta Select BLACK 6th, 7th and 8th grade teams, were extremely successful for a consecutive 3 years! We would like to show our support and again congratulate him and his team of Wildcats on a terrific season. JUST GO SELECT!!!

Atlanta Select would like to salute DeAndre' Bray, former point guard at Jasksonville State University. DeAndre' is lead all NCAA Division I schools in "Assists", in other words he is number one in the nation. He appeared on television on ESPNU on December 6, 2007 and on January 24, 2008, thus you can see him at selected Halftime Shows of the Atlanta Hawks games. DeAndre', often called "Little Dee" or "Mosquito", starred in AAU basketball under coaches of the Atlanta Select, high school basketball at Mays HS (two state championships), and at Jacksonville State as the starting point guard. The 5'6", 160 lbs honor student was rejected earlier in life for being considered as too small and short to play basketball, but look at him now. DeAndre' has played all over the world, currently playing in various leagues such as AEBL, B3 Academy, and The Prather just to name a few. Lil D also played in the box office hit movie "Uncle Drew"starring NBA Stars like Kyrie Irving, Shaquille O'Neal, Nate Robinson and others. Congratulations to DeAndre', as he continues to make his parents, siblings and the Atlanta Select Basketball Assoc. proud and we continue to support this outstanding student turned professional athlete's career.

Hassan Hoopbest.jpeg

Please meet Hassan Glenn as the founder and owner of HoopBeast Filming, which started as a “fashion page for hoopers” college project at his alma mater Valdosta State University. Throughout high school Hassan began filming & making highlight tapes for himself and other teammates and this is where he became an obsessed “Film Junkie”. Once he began coaching as a student assistant for the Women’s basketball program at VSU, he was able to reignite that obsession by coordinating game film for his team. After graduating a year before the pandemic, he turned his obsession into a full fledge business! “In my time as a student assistant coach under coach Carley Kuhns, I learned so much valuable information about the game, most importantly, scouting!” This is where he would use his newfound skill to format the way he approached filming in the various angles for HoopBeast. Nevertheless, during the pandemic, Hassan was able to get in contact with Coach JayBee, where he would inquire about possibly being the lead videographer for Atlanta Select. “Without Atlanta Select, there wouldn’t be a HoopBeast.” We thank you Hassan for coming back to us and giving your commitment and dedication to the program. Just Go SELECT!!
